I love Lou Reed, and have been a fan of his and the Velvet Underground's work for years.

I'm a little miffed that he came out and trashed two of my other favorite bands: The Doors and The Beatles.

Of the contemporaries, he said:

They were painfully stupid and pretentious. Then when they did try to get in quotes, 'arty,' it was worse than stupid rock and roll. What I mean by stupid, I mean the Doors."

"I never liked the Beatles," he said. "I thought they were garbage."

To each his own, I s'pose!  Lots of people don't think Lou Reed even "sings", so...touche?

The interview is from 1987, but it's resurfaced because it was just animated for PBS's "Blank on Blank" series.  Which admittedly, looks crazy cool.
