Police in the City of Lockport spent a good portion of Saturday searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery at Eastern Niagara Hospital.

Authorities say that 24-year-old Adam Kibler walked into the emergency room just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, armed with a rifle in each hand and demanded drugs. The staff gave him a small amount of drugs after Kibler claimed that he had a bomb in his bag.

Police immediately responded and saw Kibler leaving the E.R. while he dropped his weapons and backpack in the parking lot. It was determined that an "inert device" with wires sticking out was in the backpack hooked to a cell phone.

Residents near the hospital received a reverse 9-1-1 call to stay indoors during the manhunt, and a shelter was also set up or them, if needed.

A police officer fired two rounds of shot at Kibler when he was initially confronted but missed.

Adam Kibler was arrested on Saturday afternoon and authorities charged him with first degree robbery. He will be arraigned in the City of Lockport court today.
