Many of us grew up reading books like "The Roly Poly Puppy," "Tawny Scrawny Lion," and "The Three Little Pigs from the Golden Books collection.  They were in almost every kindergarten classroom where kids were learning to read.  You could always tell they were "Little Golden Books" by their signature golden binding that had drawn pictures of animals and other figures on it.

Now, a Western New York icon is going to have her story told in the same way.

Lucille Ball is originally from Jamestown, NY.  She still has a museum there dedicated to her that is connected to the National Comedy Museum because she was one of the most brilliant comedic minds in American history.  Now, the next generation will get to learn about her the same way we learned to read.  She has her very own "Little Golden Book."

It's called, "Lucille Ball: A Little Golden Book Biography" and you can get it just about anywhere.  If you'd like to order it through Amazon, it's available here.

The book is part of a series that includes biographies on other historical figures such as:

  • Dwayne Johnson
  • Queen Elizabeth II
  • Barack Obama
  • Sonia Sotomayor
  • Dr. Fauci
  • Joe Biden
  • Dolly Parton
  • Kamala Harris
  • Misty Copeland
  • Betty White
  • Frida Kahlo
  • Ruth Bader Ginsburg
  • Jackie Robinson
  • Martin Luther King Jr.

Lucy's book was written by children's author Wendy Loggia who also happens to be from Jamestown, NY.
