You may have heard during the Celebrity Fix this morning, Rita Wilson recently underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Her initial pathology showed no breast cancer...but after speaking with a friend, Rita decided to have a second opinion, which did indeed reveal cancer.  She told People magazine:

I'm recovering and most importantly, expected to make a full recovery.  Why?  Because I caught this early, have excellent doctors, and because I got a second opinion...You have nothing to lose if both opinions match up for the good, and everything to gain if something that was missed is found, which does happen.

I'm sharing this with you because I want you to always remember, no matter how good you may feel, no matter what doctors may say, one thing will NEVER lead you wrong, and that's your gut.  If your gut says "I still feel like something's wrong", answer it.

As you know, my mom was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer...how did she catch it? She watched MY mammography video and remembered it had been 5 years since her last screening.  So she had hers, small masses were discovered, and she moved into action immediately with a great team by her side.

She had her lumpectomy, and has begun her radiation treatments, and all prognoses are GREAT! (Thank you again for your continued concern and support...it's meant the world to me!)
