Laura's #1 Track Throwback is taking us back to 1989 with the popular boy band New Kids on the Block.

NKOTB (originally called "Nynuk") started in Boston, Massachusetts with brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and Donny Wahlberg. The group sold over 80 million records worldwide during the height of their success in the 1980s and early 1990s. They went on to win two American Music Awards in 1990 for Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group AND Favorite Pop/Rock Album before disbanding in 1994.

After a thirteen year hiatus New Kids on the Block reunited in 2007 to secretly record a new album, The Block, which was released in 2008, followed by a tour. Rolling Stone ranked NKOTB at #16 on the Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments list.

In 2010, NKOTB teamed up with the Backstreet Boys to perform at the American Music Awards, which helped kick off their 2011-2012 NKOTBSB Tour.

New Kids on the Block received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014, and will be performing at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo with Nelly and TLC on July 2nd.
