Denver, who passed away in 1997 was an American musical icon and had several billboard hit songs. From songs like "Take Me Home Country Roads" and "Rocky Mountain High" to "Thank God I Am A Country Boy" Denver was a huge hitmaker in country music.

Denver was more than just a country artist as well. His songs and albums landed on a variety of music charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, and adult contemporary chart while earning Denver 12 gold and four platinum albums

Two of his songs were used as official state songs as well. "Rocky Mountain High" was made the state song of Colorado in 2007 and "Take Me Home Country Roads" was made the official state song of West Virginia in 2014.

Denver passed away in a plane crash at the age of 53 in 2017.
