Recently the officials in Jamestown wanted to honor the musical group 10,000 Maniacs for their amazing musical career, but many people don't know that the musical group is from Western New York,

So imagine that people from outside the 716 driving through Jamestown when they see this sign.

Yes, Jamestown is home to 10,000 maniacs. But if you don't know the musical group, you would think that there are just a bunch of crazy people living in this Western New York town.

Next time, the officials might have to reconsider how they word their signage. Maybe adding "musical group" to the sign would of helped confused people.

The 10,000 Maniacs have been around since forming in Jamestown in 1981, and have released nine studio albums, six EPs, and five live albums during their careers.

The biggest hit for the band came in 1992 when their song "These are the days" hit number #1 on the United State Alternative charts. The song has joined several other Top 10 singles released by the band including "What's The Matter Here", "Trouble Me", "Candy Everyone Wants", and "Because the Night".

The band's 1993 "MTV Unplugged" album peaked at 13 on the US album charts as well.

The band celebrated their 40 years of being together with a tour in 2022 featuring Mary Ramsey who replaced Natalie Merchant on vocals. Merchant had left the band back in 1994 to pursue a solo career.
