One Western New York native is getting a chance to live out his dream of playing in professional football.

This week, the new football league, the XFL, held its first draft for the upcoming season and one Western New York native will be wearing a uniform for one of the teams.

During the XFL's specialist draft where teams drafted kickers, punters, and long snappers, Hamburg Native and former Frontier High School and University of Buffalo punter Jake Schum.



EXTRA: FORMER BUFFALO BILLS QB TO PLAY IN XFL

The new version of the XFL is being run by former WWE superstar Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and will be home to eight teams from across the county. The XFL is set to begin play on February 18th, 2023 after the NFL Super Bowl is played.

The XFL will have several former NFL players on their roster and will hope to give football fans something to watch after the end of the NFL season.

We are so excited to see a hometown player get a shot at pro football once again.
