As the snow has started to arrive in Western New York, officials from the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority have made a decision that will impact travel all over the region and is in line with the state of emergency that New York State has put in place in the 11 counties that will feel the greatest impact of the storm.

Along with the driving ban that is in effect and the closing of most city and county offices, the NFTA has announced that it is suspending Metro Bus service throughout Erie County.

Metro Bus service will remain in effect for only 4 bus routes, 50, 52, 55, and 59, all of which serve Niagara County. However, all other routes are shut down until further notice.

Metrorail service will continue to operate, but officials have said they will continue to monitor the weather and will make additional updates as more information becomes available.

Metro Bus service in the area is not the only thing that has been shut down due to the storm that is barreling down on Western New York.

The New York State Thruway is closed from the Pennsylvania State Line to the I-390 in Rochester, New York, most schools in the region are closed, and the NFL has even decided to move the Buffalo Bills football game that is scheduled for Sunday, November 20, 2022, to Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

With so much snow expected to come down in the Buffalo area, it's likely that you make sure you have all of the supplies you need and just stay inside where it is warm and safe.
