WGRZ-TV provided some dramatic footage from their traffic cameras of a massive car fire in the westbound lanes of I-90 between the Kensignton Expressway and Walden Avenue during near 5 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

That stretch of I-90, which is normally pretty congested with traffic during the evening rush hour, was brought to a near standstill due to this car fire.

The Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition (NITTEC) issued a traffic alert advising drivers to find alternate routes home as it took police and firefighters several hours to bring the fire under control.

Eventually, the obstructions were removed from the highway and traffic was able to return to normal.
