Living in New York State comes with a lot of good things, and a lot of not so good things.

We are the financial center of the world with some amazing food and great sports. But the Empire State also boasts some of the highest taxes in the county and some a high level of bureaucracy when it comes to get anything done.

However, regardless of those items, New York is our home and there are several great places in New York for you to call home and raise a family. Whether its small villages, mid sized towns, or large super cities, New York has it all.

But, what city is the best in New York and why are you wrong if you say anything else besides Buffalo?

Buffalo is among very few cities in America that sits right on an international border. Our proximity to Canada essentially makes Ontario a suburb of Buffalo, and with Toronto being less than 2 hours away by car, it means there are always tons of great things to do in Canada. Being this close to Ontario is exceptionally better than being next to New Jersey.

Renown landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux have designed some of the best parks and cityscapes in the entire world. Their credits are long and distinguished, including projects in Milwaukee, Detroit, Niagara Falls, New York City, and Buffalo. Many people consider Central Park in Manhattan to be their crown jewel, and at 843 acres, its an amazing masterpiece for an urban park. However, it pales in comparison to their true piest de resistance, the Buffalo Olmstead Park System. Instead of it just sitting in the middle of the city, Olmsted & Vaux incorporated the park throughout the entire city, connected by long and beautiful parkways to make a 850 acre sensation.

Sitting just west of the Catskills and Adirondack mountain ranges, at an altitude of approximately 600 feet above sea level, Buffalo is NOT sinking into the Atlantic Ocean. Unfortunately, every city in New York State can't claim this.
