Buffalo Airport Cancels Flights As Storm Arrives
As another winter storm heads into Buffalo and Western New York, many people around the area have started to make sure their preparations are all set in case this latest blast of winter weather turns into a tougher storm.
The storm is expected to bring freezing rain and sleet, along with several inches of snow from Wednesday, February 22, 2023, through Thursday, February 23, 2023, which will make travel miserable all around the region
These weather conditions are not only making road travel difficult, but it is also making air travel into and out of Buffalo difficult for some people.
Multiple flights out of Buffalo to destinations like Boston and New York City have been delayed for several hours, along with several flights that are scheduled to leave later in the evening or in the morning on Thursday, February 23, 2023, have been canceled.
In addition to the departing flights that have been delayed or canceled, there are a large number of flights that were Buffalo bound that were either delayed or canceled.
Weather-related flight cancellations often have a ripple effect all over the country due to the fact that our system of air traffic is so complicated and congested. Just a few delayed flights will cause many other flights to be delayed or even canceled.
Nationwide more than 4,000 flights have been canceled across North America according to got CBS News.
I travel quite a bit and having a flight canceled on you can be very frustrating, especially when it's for something that's beyond your control like the weather. Federal Law requires airlines to either refund your ticket or rebook you on the next available flight when the weather clears up, but that doesn't make things feel any better.
However, better safe than sorry is the motto that I use when traveling, so hopefully, those people impacted are able to find a safe place to stay while they're waiting for their flights to be rebooked.
