A beloved local meteorologist is returning back to the TV after leaving. She left her gig at WGRZ in order to focus more on her growing family, but now has landed a job and returning to the network.

Jennifer Stanonis is returning to TV very soon as she announced on Facebook and Twitter earlier this week. She left her post in 2019.

Jennifer Stanonis worked at Channel 7 until 2012 before making the jump to Channel 2, WGRZ. In 2019 she decided to walk away from TV and news. In the meantime, she penned a children's book called Willy & Lilly's Adventures With Weather.

I’m so happy to share the news that I’m going back to work at Channel 2 as a Meteorologist! It is very exciting to have this opportunity and to be back with the amazing Storm Team 2 forecast team. And I'm thankful I get to give the forecast to our viewers again", Stanonis wrote on social media earlier this week.

It seems like there are so many news reporters leaving Western New York lately. Some very notable names have announced that they are leaving Queen City.

Within the year or so, anchor Mel Orlins and reporter Jhas Williams both left the morning program on channel 4 in addition to sportscasters Paul Stockman and Mary Margaret Johnson. Another hometown reporter from Lancaster, Gabby Mediak left her post at Channel 4 for a gig out in Pennsylvania. Last week, Abby Friedman announced that after a couple of years, she is ready to leave.

It seems that low contracts and aspirations to get to bigger markets are two of the biggest factors that reporters leave their Buffalo jobs. Good luck to all!
