Is Having Hubby Help With Housework Really Worth It?

Question: Is your husband/boyfriend/"live-in" helping you out with the housework - but it's still taking you as long as it always has? As almost always seems to be the case around here, a new survey explains why.The survey was done in the UK, for the Sainsbury's chain of supermarkets. According to 2,000 women polled, they spent about three hours a week re-doing housework that their male companions had done! The most common tasks that needed a woman's touch were vacuuming, dusting, and laundry [oddly enough, the household chore I've always enjoyed the most].

To give my gender its props, the study showed that more British men are trying to help out around the house, reflecting similar data from recent studies in the US. To be fair, the UK women polled said they thought their mates were making an honest effort to help, and not screwing up the jobs on purpose.

So why can't men vacuum correctly? Well, the British newspaper The Daily Mail speculates that women are too used to living by the phrase, "If you want something done right, do it yourself". The magazine Real Simple, in a recent study, found out that women have trouble delegating tasks and surrendering control to others.As a result, they spend more of their free time dealing with household and child-raising issues than their male counterparts.

What can women do? Either accept that he's doing the best he can, and don't obsess about it, or teach him how to do it right!
