This is one of the most incredible stories I've ever heard.  And I hadn't heard it before today.

On February 12, 2009, 57-year-old Beverly Eckert was one of the 49 people killed when Continental Flight 3407 crashed in Clarence Center.

She was on her way to Buffalo to commemorate her husband Sean Rooney's birthday.

Sean Rooney was killed in the September 11th attacks in 2001.

The couple met at age 16 at a dance Canisius High School.  Beverly was a student at Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart.

After the planes hit the World Trade Center, Sean called Eckert.  They exchanged voice mails and briefly spoke.  He made his way to the 105th floor, trying to reach the roof, when the tower collapsed.  She never heard from him again.

After the attacks, Beverly became an advocate for the creation of the 9/11 Commission. Just days before her death, she had met with President Obama in her role as an advocate for those affected by 9/11.

Here's a recording of Beverly talking about her conversation with Sean as she spoke to him one last time.
