Ice Storm Lining Up To Make Major Impact On New York

A major cold front is expected to bring snow and ice to New York later this week.

Looking ahead at the forecast, it looks like the storm will bring plenty of ice across the state which could lead to issues with travel, tree damage, and power outages.

According to Weather.gov, ice can be very damaging.

Accumulation of ice can bring down trees and topple utility poles and communication towers. Ice can disrupt communications and power for days while utility companies repair extensive damage. Even small accumulations of ice can be extremely dangerous to motorists and pedestrians.

 

Also, the commute around the area could be problematic since bridges and overpasses are dangerous since they freeze before other surfaces.

If you have to be on the road, you need to exercise plenty of caution.

The snow and ice are expected to move across the area starting Wednesday Night through Thursday afternoon. It looks like Western New York will see the most ice and snow compared to the rest of the state.    

The weather will clear a little on Friday before the snow is expected to return to the area during the weekend.
