Hand, Foot, And Mouth Disease Cases On The Rise

Nationwide, doctors are reporting an increase in cases of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, according to WGRZ.

WGRZ reports doctors in Indiana, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia are reporting an uptick of cases of the often painful Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD).

Parents should ensure proper hygiene for their children, as HFMD is highly contagious. The CDC describes HFMD as "a contagious illness caused by different viruses. It is common in infants and children younger than 5 years old, because they do not yet have immunity to the viruses that cause HFMD. However, older children and adults can also get HFMD."
