New Year's Eve is a chance for a fresh start for everyone, and what better way to kick off the new year than with a great time? House parties with close friends or family can certainly be fun, but we like to take the opportunity to get dressed up and go have an experience you can't find on any other night of the year. You don't have to be in Times Square to get the full New Year's Eve experience!

So here is a comprehensive list of all the fun things you can do in Buffalo on New Year's Eve--I've pulled out some of my favorites.

Trip Savvy has the guide to New Year's Eve in Buffalo from fireworks, ball drop and more.

Although it is often upstaged by the festivities happening in New York City, Buffalo is not a city to be overlooked for New Year's Eve celebrations.

1)  The Electric Tower Ball Drop

Festivities begin at 10 p.m. in Roosevelt Plaza, right in front of the Electric Tower building. Local artists perform on the main stage in the hours leading up to midnight, helping spectators to fight off the cold by moving around and dancing. Once the ball drops and the new year arrives, a spectacular fireworks display ignites over the city.

2) Ice Ball at Statler City

Your ticket gives you a seat in one of the three luxurious ballrooms... all guests are treated to a full buffet dinner including assorted antipasti, shrimp cocktail, and a carving station with herb-crusted strip loin. Best of all, the open bar serves premium cocktails from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

3) First Night, a family friendly event

Whether you're looking for fun New Year's plans for your kids or just something to tire them out before you head off to your own event, First Night  is a family-friendly party on December 31 filled with activities geared toward children. The event starts at 5 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m., and is conveniently located one block away from the Electric Tower Ball Drop.

Loads of Buffalo Breweries are making the night fun too. There is even a family-friendly event if you've got younger ones who are justttttt old enough to hang in there until about 10PM. Here's the link if that's something that might interest you.
