We haven't as many updates from Governor Andrew Cuomo regarding announcements on the COVID-19 pandemic, but Cuomo did update the state on the most recent COVID-19 numbers during a Monday conference call with the media.

The governor discussed the latest positivity numbers for each region in the state and said that Western New York currently has the state's highest positive COVID-19 rate with 4.7 percent as of Sunday, according to WGRZ. That number was up from Saturday's rate of 4.4 percent

Cuomo also noted other regions such as New York City and Long Island currently have lower positivity rates than Western New York and mentioned how the region's highest COVID-19 positivity rate is due to the "behavior of a community."

"When it comes to COVID, it's undeniable that the behavior of a community makes the difference, and that means wearing masks, social distancing, and washing hands. Some people will say they're tired of COVID, the weather's warm, and the death numbers are down, but the community that accepts that philosophy first will have a higher transmission rate. We all understand COVID fatigue, but the pandemic is not over," Governor Cuomo said.

240 people were hospitalized from COVID-19 in the region, which was up from Saturday as well. As far as the state goes as a whole, 57 people died from COVID-19 on Sunday in New York, which brings the total deaths to 40,813.
