There is one thing us New Yorkers do very well and that is recycle.

The iconic Christmas at Rockefeller Center in New York City will have a new purpose and that is to provide shelter.

For the past 12 years, after the lights come down and the tree is removed from the center, it is sent to be milled into boards to help builds home for Habit For Humanity.

The tree is set to come down on January 9th and then be processed.
