General Mills announced that they are recalling 1.8 million boxes of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios that are labeled gluten-free, but actually contain wheat.

The recall affects the boxes that were made in July and produced at their plant in Lodi, California. The company said that wheat flour was accidentally used in a gluten-free oat flour system, and anyone with a wheat allergy or celiac disease might suffer from an allergic reaction or discomfort.

The boxes in question have a "better if used by" date of July 2016 and the "LD" plant code.

General Mills said that their biggest concern is their reputation risk, because the gluten-free products just launched. Customers who cannot eat wheat products, can contact the company for a full refund or replacement box.
