Four New Movies To Be Filmed In WNY

It was just last February that Buffalo was engulfed in "Nightmare Alley fever" as critically acclaimed film director Guillermo del Toro shot 'Nightmare Alley' in the Queen City with a cast that included actor Bradley Cooper. The movie doesn't come out until December of 2021, due to pandemic-related delays.

The same can be said for John Krasinki's 'A Quiet Place: Part II', which was filmed in Western New York in 2019 and was originally supposed to be released in March of 2020. However, the pandemic threw a curveball into the release and is now scheduled to be released to theaters in September of 2021.

It's awesome to see so many famous movie makers choosing Western New York as a film location and that trend isn't going away anytime soon.

According to Buffalo Niagara Film Commissioner, Tim Clark, be ready to have even more filmmakers in the region soon. This from WBEN.

“In the next two months, we have four brand new movies that will be shooting in the area," said Clark.

No word yet on potential titles or directors who will be visiting the region.

I had a friend who lived down in Angola when Krasinki filmed 'A Quiet Place: Part II.' Parts of the movie were filmed in Dunkirk and he told me the buzz around the area when crews were in town was undeniable. 'A Quiet Place: Part II' was also filmed in North Tonawanda, Orchard Park, Olcott, Alden, and on the Grand Island Bridges.

I remember working downtown when del Toro and Cooper were shooting 'Nightmare Alley' and even though it was the dead of winter, it was awesome seeing all the vintage cars and truck crews scattered around Niagara Square.

I really hope Buffalo and Western New York becomes a hub for moviemakers in the coming years. This area has so much beauty and it appears Krasinki and Del Toro went out of their way to choose Buffalo.
