Foods Most Likely To Give You Food Poisoning According to An Expert
Great. Just when you're hitting your stride with healthy eating in the new year, something like this comes out and just blows everything out of the water.
A food-safety lawyer (sounds like a REAL good party guest....) was asked about foods he personally NEVER eats because they're too risky. He may have a bit of a slanted look at the subject, since he's been representing people in food-poisoning cases for the past 20 years.
That being said, here's what Bill Marler will NOT eat....
- 1
Raw Oysters
Yep, this one you might be able to lay on global warming....the oceans are getting warmer, and even slightly warmer water makes microbes grow.
- 2
Pre-Cut Fruits and Veggies
Just when ya started making better grocery store choices, too, huh. Since they're pre-cut they're handled more than non-cut, so more likely to be contaminated.
- 3
Sprouts
Over 30 bacterial outbreaks linked them to salmonella and e coli over the past 20 years.
- 4
Rare Meat
If you're one of those "the bloodier the better" kind of folks, it probably won't change much...but meat should be cooked to at least 160 degrees to kill bacteria. That's at least medium-well. Which most people don't dig.
