In January 2020, Fredonia was selected to be featured on the season, and taping took place in early March, right before the coronavirus pandemic began.

According to WGRZ, thousands of towns entered to be part of the show, with Fredonia beating out the other four top finalists.

The show airs on both Hulu and Amazon.

Fredonia’s small business owners had to apply to be featured on the show and write in with what makes their stores special, and what changes need to be made -- town will got $500,000 to help small businesses as part of the program.

"The trailer, which was released Tuesday, shows the beginning of the season, when show hosts Ty Pennington and Amanda Brinkman, surprised the town with the announcement that they won and then shows clips of how businesses were effected by the COVID-19 pandemic."
