There are a couple of major races in Western New York that may affect you.

Just this past February, Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster (Democrat) announced that he will not seek re-election. The mayor says he wants to focus his attention on other priorities including his family.

Robert Restaino (Democrat), Glenn Choolokian (Republican), Seth Piccirillo and Jeffrey Elder are all running against each other-- hoping to become the next mayor of the Cataract City.

A hot topic in the race includes the garbage user fee. Homeowners in Niagara Falls will pay roughly $218 in garbage fees next year .

The Erie County Executive race is another election to watch. Lynne Dixon (Republican) is running against incumbent Mark Poloncarz (Democrat).

Remember every vote counts and yours IS important.
