You have heard about a Ferris Wheel potentially coming to Buffalo RiverWorks last year but it's been fairly quiet since then.

However, according to Buffalo Rising, plans for the Ferris Wheel will be reviewed by the Buffalo planning board on Monday. It'll be called the Buffal-O Wheel.

Earl Ketry (owner of Buffalo RiverWorks), wants the wheel to be built on the base of a demolished grain elevator complex. The complex s currently used as a beer garden.

The wheel would stand 100 feet tall -- roughly the same height as the Labatt six-pack silos.

“We’re going to keep making big splashes," says Ketry. We want the wheel to be operational by Mother’s Day when we are going to have a brunch, where everyone gets to ride the attraction.”

The Ferris Wheel will feature a giant silhouette, broadcasting light shows, and according to Ketry, the light shows will be visible from the skyway. Wow, that sounds incredible and with the amount I drive on Route 5 into Buffalo, I'm all for it!

If all goes well with the planning board, the Buffal-O Ferris Wheel should be up and running by sometime this spring.

Buffalo RiverWorks is one of my favorite places to go to in the spring and summer in Buffalo, and it's so cool to see more and more attractions coming to what is already a jam-packed place for fun activities (and great food).
