It almost seems like we're dreaming. All Buffalo Sabres fans heard this summer was how the team would be bad once again, and perhaps even the worst team in the NHL this season (again).

While there are still 79 games remaining, the first three games of the 2021-2022 NHL regular season have been nothing but amazing for the Sabres.

Buffalo beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-2 on Tuesday night. The game featured goals from Rasmus Asplund, Zemgus Girgensons, Kyle Okposo, Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner.

Skinner's goal was the highlight of the night, not just for the Sabres/Canucks game, but around the NHL. ESPN actually tweeted the goal and gave the Sabres some major props.

ESPN has the TV rights to NHL games in the United States for the first time since 2004, so it's only natural they would tweet and post about the NHL more right now, but it's surreal for Sabres fans to see their team highlighted on SportsCenter and ESPN's social media feeds. It was a fantastic goal from Skinner.

The Sabres are playing like they're the best team in the NHL. I know, it's only three games, but Kyle Okposo has had the best three-game stretch of his Sabres career and so has other players, such as Cody Eakin, Zemgus Girgensons and Colin Miller. Robert Hagg looks like a great pickup and both Thompson and Skinner look like stars.

Head coach Don Granato is clealy connecting to the team. Perhaps all it took was to find the right head coach.

The Sabres next play the Boston Bruins this Friday night at KeyBank Center.
