An Erie County Sheriff deputy responding to a call about an infant that was accidentally locked in a running vehicle in Grand Island on Tuesday broke a window after observing the child's face turning read and sweating.

The deputy apparently smashed the passenger front window. The parents were present for the incident and gave the deputy permission to break the window.

The infant was taken into the house and placed in a tub where cool water was ran over the baby. EMS arrived and evaluated the infant.

On a 78-degree day, the temperature inside of a parked car can be as high as 100-120 degrees. On a 90-degree day, the temperature inside of a parked car reaches up to 160 degrees in less than 10 minutes. Remember to check the seat and be extremely careful when it comes to having a child in a the car.
