These 7 Erie County Zip Codes Have The Most COVID-19 Cases

Thankfully, COVID-19 rates are dropping around New York State. With that said, there are still way too many positive cases. Hopefully, we will continue to trend in the right direction, because for a minute there I thought we might hit 25 to 30 percent. In Erie County, there were 8,254 total cases over the past 7 days ending January 22, 2022, which is a 47 percent decrease from the previous week's total of 16,102.

30,000 Hospitalizations, Breakthrough COVID-19 Cases Surpass 1 Million in NY

Way back when, in December, COVID-19 cases among the fully vaccinated were almost 227,000.  Boy, things have changed.  Breakthrough COVID-19 cases are rising and have surpassed 1 million.  There have been just over 30,000 fully vaxxed hospitalizations. Looking back at the data from the beginning of January, breakthrough cases have increased by around 350,000 and hospitalizations by about 10,000.

As of January 1, 2022, there were over 650,000 breakthrough cases,

According to the data released by the New York State Health Department as of January 17, 2022, there had been over a million breakthrough cases,

1,023,704 laboratory-confirmed breakthrough cases of COVID-19 among fully-vaccinated people in New York State, which corresponds to 7.7% of the population of fully-vaccinated people 12-years or older.

 

30,005 hospitalizations with COVID-19 among fully-vaccinated people in New York State, which corresponds to 0.23% of the population of fully-vaccinated people 12-years or older.
