Emotional WNY Wedding Proposal Gets National Attention, Gratitude

A big congratulations going out to Billy and Charlene from Gasport, NY! Not only are they planning a wedding, but the proposal has found some national attention and gratitude.

Any true fan of country music can recite the lyrics to the Joe Diffie song, "John Deere Green." We all know after hearing the song that "Billy Bob loves Charlene! The song was a huge hit for the late singer who passed away from complications of COVID-19 on 2020. It was just a year after Diffie was part of the Toyota Taste of Country in Buffalo. It was also at that show that WYRK radio was able to get Billy and Charlene backstage to meet Joe Diffie in person!

Fast forward to this year and it comes full circle as Joe Diffie's widow, Tara, posted the couple's engagement announcement and story on her Instagram page.

We had the chance to speak with the proud bride-to-be on the show on Thursday on Clay and Company. Charlene was still smiling ear to ear to share some of her experience.

I sure miss Joe Diffie and his music and it was so great to see this story and hear from them about why he has played such an important part in their relationship. True, the names work perfectly and fit the song. But after speaking with Charlene, it is much deeper than that. This is a true love story that is still being written and if Joe was here to see it unfold, I am sure he would be proud and happy to know that he share the excitement with them!
