At the end of a hard workout, it's tempting to towel off and crawl back to your car as soon as possible.

However, skipping doing a cool-down at the end of a workout can have some negative consequences.

Going through a proper cool-down ensures better muscle recovery, and can prevent soreness that results from a build up of lactic acid in your muscles. It's also a great time to stretch those muscles, getting better results in your flexibility as you stretch while the muscles are still warm. Also, allowing your heart rate and breathing to return to a normal, resting pace will prevent feeling light-headed or dizzy post-workout.
