Not that we in WNY are strangers to cold weather, but we're just gettin' smacked by a cold front...which is why this caught our eye.

A story recently published by "The Washington Post" claims warming up your care before you drive actually does NOTHING beneficial for the car itself.

It USED to be the case when cars had carburetors, which need the engine to warm up before they work right.  But sinice the 90'sm most cars have had electronic fuel injectors that automatically compensate for the temperature.

So as long as your car isn't 30 years or older, you probably don't need to warm it up.

BUT, that being said, the practical reason to do it is so the INSIDE gets warm, or so you can crank the defronst.

Basically, you're just wasting gas....letting the car idle for 5 minutes can increase your total fuel consumption by 7-14%!
