Anheuser-Busch Offering Discounted Rides This Weekend in Buffalo, New York
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Uber, and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles are aiming to combat alcohol-impaired driving in Buffalo and across the state this summer.
With the long 4th of July holiday weekend in our sights, one of the country's largest breweries, the nation’s largest drunk driving victim services, and New York State are making it easier for you to get a safe ride home.
In a program that will span the entire summer, from the 4th of July weekend through Labor Day weekend, consumers will be encouraged to end alcohol-impaired driving by planning ahead for a safe ride.
The 'Decide to Ride' campaign was launched in September 2021 and makes its return this summer in Western New York. The program will offer locally available discounts on Uber rides in Buffalo so that consumers plan ahead for a safe ride to and from their Fourth of July parties.
Colleen Lucas, Vice President of Community Impact at Anheuser-Busch said the following via a press release:
This Fourth of July, we’re proud to celebrate our nation by helping to keep our roads and communities safe through our Decide to Ride campaign...In partnership with the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, we’re eager to connect with consumers in Buffalo during the summer holidays to remind them to always plan ahead for a safe ride to help end alcohol-impaired driving.
Creating awareness of the campaign is a key goal this summer, as consumers who are aware of the campaign are over 40 percent more likely to use a ridesharing app according to early campaign research.
Kristin Smith, Head of Road Safety Policy at Uber said:
As studies show, Uber has had a direct role in reducing alcohol-related traffic fatalities throughout the US...This Independence Day, we are proud to partner with MADD, Anheuser-Busch, and the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee to be part of the solution to end drunk driving and remind everyone to make a plan if they decide to drink.
