WIVB forecasts a major cold front coming to Buffalo, following some snow.

Tonight, a widespread storm system will spread generally light snow into areas south of Buffalo, then reaching the city toward morning.  Expect 1-2″ in the lower terrain with 2-3″ on the hilltops.

Then watch out for the chilling cold,

Colder air starts to deepen Tuesday night into Wednesday igniting disorganized lake effect snow showers at first and then more organized lake snow later at night which could briefly impact the metro.  The cold will continue to deepen during the day ....[Becoming] bitterly cold with sub-zero wind chills developing Wednesday evening.

Relief by Thursday,

There is a chance of a snow shower Thursday, but overall the cold starts to ease late week into the upcoming weekend along with a pretty quiet weather stretch.
