Aretha actually lived in Buffalo before! The Franklin family, originally from Memphis moved to Buffalo when Aretha's dad was directing a church up in Western New York. When her dad, C.L. Franklin relocated to Buffalo, her mother, Barbara got a job being a nurse at Buffalo General Hospital.

After the couple separated when she was 6-years-old, Aretha lived with her dad during the school year and came to live with her mom on the East Side of Buffalo during the Summers.

Aretha Franklin passed away at the age of 76 in Detriot with her family and friends surrounding her after her battle with pancreatic cancer.

Unfortunately, Aretha did not have her will set up, so her 4 sons filed to receive the assets from her estate.

I was after her for a number of years to do a trust," Los Angeles attorney Don Wilson told the paper. "It would have expedited things and kept them out of probate and kept things private Wilson is Franklin's attorney in copyright matters, song publishing and record deals, and will be consulted on estate planning purposes. He said while he doesn't have a dollar figure on the value of her assets, the lack of a will means the finances will become public in Oakland County Probate Court", according to CNN.
