Rescue workers in Nepal have been working non-stop to dig through the rubble and search for victims of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck over the weekend.

The magnitude quake spread horror from Kathmandu to small villages and to the slopes of Mount Everest, triggering an avalanche that buried part of the base camp packed with foreign climbers preparing to make their summit attempts.

Today, the first helicopters are heading to the Mount Everest base camp to rescue more than 200 stranded climbers.

As of Monday morning, more than 33-hundred people are confirmed dead, and more than six-thousand injured. Dozens of people have also been confirmed dead in neighboring regions of India and China.

Three Americans are among the dead, including Google executive Daniel Fredinburg, who was killed in an avalanche on Mount Everest.
