In 2020, according to the Centers for Disease Control, there were 1,052 firearm deaths in New York. They don't break the numbers down by homicides, accidents, or suicides, but it gives a bit of perspective. Unfortunately, the data also lags often by months or years, so it's difficult to get a real-time overview.

In Buffalo and Western New York, we have had weekends where there were three or four shootings, often with fatal results. Some areas of the city are definitely more prone to violence. Taking a look at all of the shootings from 2021 and 2022 (so far), I was able to map out the streets with the highest numbers of gun violence.  There are three streets that are the most dangerous and had the most shootings between January 1, 2021, and May 6, 2022, which is probably the most up-to-date data you'll see anywhere. These incidents include shootings with injuries and fatalities.
