Supposedly clean freaks are happier than their messy counterparts.  Keeping that in mind the next time you're cleaning your toilet, take a second to appreciate how HAPPY it's making you.

The study, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Carbona, surveyed 2,000 Americans and divided them into three self-identifying groups: super clean, moderately clean and messy based on levels of cleanliness.

The results showed a remarkable correlation between happiness levels and cleaning in every major category studied. Happiness levels declined the less cleanly a person rated themselves.

The cleaner you are affects happiness, your love life, sleep quality and stress level.

Your likelihood to be clean vs. messy is something instilled by your parents. That explains why my Mom and Dad were cleaners and why my grandmother never took the plastic off her couch.

The study also surveyed the things most likely to be spilled. Can you guess the top 3?

  • Coffee/tea
  • Soft drinks
  • Wine

Obviously the answer is to only consume those beverages in the messiest part of your home...or the garage.
