According to WGRZ, the city's parking department says it sent out more than 250 violations to drivers, inadvertently.

Those who received a speed zone violation with the date of October 1st, shouldn't pay the fine.

"How it happens we all make mistakes in our daily lives those were tickets that should not have been in our cue to be processed," said parking commissioner Kevin Helfer.

The speed zone cameras where those drivers got tickets were not supposed to be activated until October 13th. School zone cameras at five Catholic and charter schools were being tested on that day and the violations were sent out by mistake.

Drivers who went above the speed limit on that day had a picture of their license plate taken. The pictures were supposed to be deleted but they were not, however.

Helfer said a few drivers paid the $50 fine but will be fully reimbursed.

"With any program whether it is the public sector or the private sector there are going to be issues," said Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.
