Not long after treating viewers to a performance of his latest hit, ‘Turn Up the Music,’ Chris Brown walked away with the R&B Artist of the Year title at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, emerging from a group of contenders that included his ex, Rihanna.

After Monica and Eric Benet called his name, Brown took the stage and kept his speech short and sweet, thanking “Team Breezy,” his collection of fans. Brown also credited “the radio stations, program directors, everybody who played my records, everybody who believed in my records.”

After his acceptance speech, co-host Julie Bowen exclaimed, “Oh my goodness, is he good looking!” Beyonce, Cee Lo Green and Miguel joined Breezy and RiRi among the finalists for the award.

Following his victory, Brown tweeted, “I wanna thank everyone who worked on any of my music! The awards are dedicated to you all! I’m humbled by the success I’ve gained from my fans and support of my team and peers! Not a generic statement! Really from the heart!”

Brown’s ‘F.A.M.E.’ album spawned three Top 10 hits on the R&B chart. Brown was a finalist in four categories at the Billboard Awards, including Top Male Artist, which he lost to Lil Wayne.
