Many people in Western New York are eagerly waiting for the Grand Opening of the newest Chick-Fil-A in Hamburg.

Many people are also eager to wake up early and wait in line for a chance to win free chicken for a year. Since 2003, Chick-Fil-A has given out gift cards to the first 100 people in line at new locations as part of their Grand Openings.

Some of those Grand Openings have turned into viral events. Remember this kid from Lancaster when the Chick-Fil-A opened on Transit Road?

Well, there is good and bad news when it comes to getting yourself some free chicken at the Grand Opening of the Chick-Fil-A in Hamburg.

Since 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic, Chick-Fil-A has done away with the First 100 promotion, meaning that you can't camp out in the parking out early and be one of the first 100 people in line to get free chicken for a year.

Now that doesn't mean, someone won't get free chicken for a year. When Chick-Fil-A got rid of the First 100 promotion, they created a "Community Hero" promotion, where they would give 100 local community members who do good in the community free chicken for a year.

According to their website, the 100 community members who were picked to receive free chicken for a year will be posted on the location's Facebook page. You can check it out HERE.

The Hamburg location is set to open its doors on November 17th at 6:30 am.
