Wilson, NY has certainly gotten it's share of publicity lately, and while most communities would welcome that, this Niagara County community considers it a mixed blessing. Wilson which borders Lake Ontario has been facing higher than normal water levels and ever some flooding. Businesses are preparing for the make or break summer season.,

Even with the flooding, Wilson business owners are doing everything they can to stay open for the busy summer season.

"Business as usual tourism is our number one industry," Mayor (Arthur) Lawson says.

Wilson is a huge tourist town says Mayor Arthur Lawson, with more than four-million dollars coming into the town during the summer, the businesses need to keep their doors open.

You may remember two years ago Wilson experienced similar flooding that hurt businesses because many people thought their favorite spots were closed.

"I think this has brought our town to band together and keep everyone afloat," Brandon Salvatore, Executive Chef at the Wilson Boat House Restaurant said. "We did this is 2017 we are going to do it even better in 2019."
