There is a new superintendent for the Buffalo Public Schools...

The School Board unanimously approved the hire of Dr. Kriner Cash during a meeting on Tuesday. He comes to Buffalo on the recommendation of New York's new Education Commissioner, MaryEllen Elia, who must now approve his certification.

Dr. Cash's most difficult task will be to turn around twenty-five struggling schools in the city within two years, or the state will most likely step in.

Dr. Cash will be given a four-year contract with a base salary of $275,000 a year. He is also entitled to one year of severance pay if terminated without fault, and entitled to a hear if fired "with cause."
