The first round of the 2022 NHL Draft will be held tomorrow in Montreal. It will mark the first time the first round of the draft will be held on a Thursday, instead of a Friday. This means that round 2-7 will be held on Friday, which is also a first.

The first round begins at 7 pm on Thursday.

The Buffalo Sabres hold the most selections in round one with three. They hold the 9th, 16th and 28th overall selections. The Sabres also hold four of the top 41 picks.

General manager Kevyn Adams will be very busy with his scouts and staff in determining which prospects to draft, while Adams will also be looking into potential trades to make. The goaltending situation is what is on the top of most fans' minds.

In terms of which prospects the Sabres could be targeting, there's a very credible report that states not only that Buffalo is interested in this prospect, but that they will take the prospect.

According to VP of the Mettalurg Magnitogorsk of the KHL in Russia, Sergei Laskov, the Sabres will select Russian prospect Danila Yurov.

Yurov is a skilled right winger who split time last season with Mettalurg of the KHL (Russia's top professional hockey league) and Stalnye Lisy, which is a team in Russia's top junior hockey league.

While Yurov was dominant in the MHL (junior league), he was held scoreless in 21 games in the KHL with Mettalurg.

However, that was likely due to the fact he averaged less than five minutes of ice time per game, and was not used in any offensive situation. He's only 18 years old and is considered a top 10-level talent in the 2022 NHL Draft.

However, because of everything that has gone on with Russia and the Ukraine, Russian prospects will likely slide down draft boards. This report would likely indicate the Sabres take him with the 16th overall selection, which is the pick they got in the Jack Eichel trade.

We will see if that indeed happens.
