Get ready for unique flavored wings from across the country and chicken wing eating competitions because Wingfest is coming back to Buffalo!

Last year you may remember they moved Wingfest from its normal spot in July to a date in September and encouraged people to take part all across the country.  They called it "America's Greatest Chicken Wing Party" and celebrated the chicken wing as a fundraiser for food banks in 50 cities across the country.

But this year, we are back in business with an actual in person event that will be held at Sahlen Field again.

According to WIVB, they're moving it to Labor Day weekend on September 4th and 5th.  Attendance will be split on Saturday and Sunday into three hour sessions.  There will be 3 sessions on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

It is the 20th anniversary of Wingfest and founder Drew Cerza says they're doing all they can to make sure this year's event is just as great as every other year that you remember.

“Please be patient and believe me when I say that we are doing all we can to preserve the Wingfest as a premier quality event as it has been for the past 19 years. This will be our 20th Anniversary and we can’t wait to see all of our friends again after having to take a year off.” - Drew Cerza

All admission will have to be prepaid this year, and at this point, there has been no word as to how much tickets will cost.

But get ready because wings, beer, and hopefully some live music will be back to celebrate Buffalo's most famous dish.  And yes....wings are considered a meal here in Buffalo.
