Buffalo Breaks Snowfall Record During Weekend Snowstorm

The massive lake effect snowstorm has dropped historic levels of snow across Western New York.

Orchard Park got the most snow ever in a 24-hour period in New York State. But that wasn't the only town setting records.

A new daily snowfall record was recorded today (November 19th) at the Buffalo Niagara International airport.

As of this writing, the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, which since 1940 has been the point of reference for records for Buffalo, received 16.1 inches of snow, which more than doubled the old record.

The old record was set back in the last Snovember weather event in 2014. On November 19th 2014, 7.6 inches of snow fell at the Buffalo Niagara International airport.

Before the day is over we could see that number increase. The snow ban has moved north but is expected to swing back down past Buffalo and into the southtowns by the end of the day today.

As the band moves down could bring another 3 to 6 inches of snow to the area.
