Bruce Smith Unloads on Fellow Hall of Fame Player on Social Media

The Buffalo Bills of the late '80s and early '90s are one of the most famous NFL teams in history.

Despite the fact the Bills could not win a Super Bowl, no team in the history of the league has ever gone to four straight Super Bowls, which Buffalo did from 1990-1993.

Quarterback Jim Kelly, running back Thurman Thomas and wide receiver Andre Reed led the K-Gun offense, while the defense was led by arguably the greatest defensive end in NFL history, Bruce Smith.

Smith played with the Bills from 1985-1999, before playing his last few seasons with Washington.

He's the all-time leader in sacks (200) and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009, which was his first year of eligibility.

The latest class of Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees this season includes former offensive tackle, Tony Boselli, who played for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1995-2001 before injury halted his NFL career in 2002 with the expansion Houston Texans.

Boselli has had supporters for his Hall of Fame chances for quite some time and the most notable campaign was the fact Boselli completely stopped Bruce Smith in the 1996 Wild Card game between the Jags and the Bills.

In a surprise social media post on Instagram this week, Bruce went off on the campaign tactics for Boselli, which includes highlighting that one game between the Jags and Bills.

Bruce wrote a long piece, which stated that this Hall of Fame campaign undermines the integrity of the Hall of Fame and that one game shouldn't be so important for a candidate's Hall of Fame worthiness.

Smith went on to say that Boselli was aided in Jacksonville by quarterback Mark Brunell, who was a mobile, left-handed quarterback, and Boselli protected the non-blind side, while Leon Searcy protected Brunell's blind-side.

According to Bruce, it sets a precedent for the Hall of Fame campaigns in the future.

This made national headlines and has caused NFL fans to take sides.

Smith did specify that he thinks Boselli was a great player, but pointed out the facts others such as longtime offensive tackle Richmond Webb, who had great games against Smith, played far longer and is not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
