In just the first few days of its release, Marvel's latest super hero film "Black Panther" is shattering records, and it's breakout star Winston Duke has ties to Western New York.

According to Forbes, the movie "earned a $201.8 million Fri-Sun weekend and $241.9m over the Fri-Mon holiday." Those numbers cement Black Panther's success, and have launched Winston Duke as a star.

Duke was born in  Argyle, Tobago, and came to the US when he was 9-years-old, according to his Wikipedia entry. His IMDB bio notes he graduated from Brighton High School in Rochester NY (fun fact: he went to school with YouTube star Jenna Marbles).

Duke graduated from the University of Buffalo with a BA in Theatre, and according to the University at Buffalo, "Duke recently graduated from the Yale School of Drama with his MFA in Acting in 2013."
