Pro-Trump supporters have violently stormed the U.S. Capitol, protesting claims of election fraud by President Trump and other Republicans.
Update: Trump Issues Statement on Peaceful Transition of Power
After Congress finished certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election in the early hours of January 7, 2021, President Trump released a statement about the peaceful transition of power,
"Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in residential history, it's only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!"

Members of Congress have been instructed to shelter in place and are being evacuated, if possible. Protestors have broken into the Capitol and have invaded it in an attempted coup, according to CNN's live stream.
President Trump Tweets Mike Pence Lacks Courage
The protestors are causing chaos on the day that Congress certified the results of the U.S. election, finalizing Joe Biden's presidency. Trump is angry with his own Vice President, Mike Pence, for completing his ceremonial duty in certifying election results,
Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!

According to CNN, around 1 pm today, Wednesday, January 6, 2021, the pro-Trump protestors gathered around the outside of the Capitol building. About an hour and a half later, the protestors broke windows and broke into the building, invading it, essentially.
The situation quickly escalated,
An armed standoff was taking place at the House front door as of 3 p.m. ET, and police officers had their guns drawn at someone who is trying to breach it. A Trump supporter was also pictured standing at the Senate dais.

President Trump Asks His Protestors to Remain Peaceful, After They Storm Capitol
According to the reporter from WUSA9, who is live on Youtube, protestors have been throwing objects at police, as well as yelling at law enforcement. They are chanting U.S.A. and "stop the steal," while overtaking the U.S. Capitol. She said that she has seen fog at the Capitol, but she isn't sure what it is.
President Trump's requested the protestors to "remain peaceful." He tweeted,
"I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!"
