Bills Coach Sean McDermott Says It’s “Ridiculous” Fans Will Be Allowed In Other NFL Stadiums
We're less than three weeks out from the start of the NFL regular season. The Bills will open week 1 at home against the New York Jets, but things will look vastly different than any other previous season.
No fans will be allowed inside Bills Stadium.
New York State right now is not allowing spectators for professional sporting events, which includes Bills Stadium and impacts the Bills 2020 season.
However, that doesn't mean some fans won't be allowed in opposing NFL stadiums when the Bills go to play there.
In week 2, the Bills visit Miami to play the Dolphins, and according to Field Yates of ESPN, the Dolphins will be allowing 13,000 fans to attend Hard Rock Rock Stadium when they play the Bills.
When asked about the Dolphins playing in front of fans in week 2, while the Bills cannot, head coach Sean McDermott called it "ridiculous."
McDermott isn't the only one unhappy. According to NFL.com, Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is also displeased about a competitive disadvantage.
"It's going to be very hard because some stadiums they're allowing people in and it looks like we're not going to have any fans in there early, which really stinks because we have unbelievable fans, and they make that place rocking every Sunday," Zimmer said Friday.
Other teams that said they will have some fans in attendance include the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars.
I think head coach Sean McDermott has a point. Fans in the NFL, maybe more than any other North American sport, can help influence a game.
Although, I'm betting on some of the 13,000 fans in Miami week 2 to be wearing the red, white and blue...
